Nanded Civic Poll Results: Congress Crosses Half Way Mark, BJP Distant Second

The three-way battle pitched between the Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress and Shiv Sena has turned into a battle of pride for all three parties.

The Congress has made a clean sweep in the Nanded-Waghala municipal corporation elections, winning 49 of the 54 seats for which results were declared.

The counting of votes for the 81 seat Nanded Waghala Municipal Corporation began at 10 am. Congress has taken early leads in the counting of votes. Shiv Sena is leading on one seat, and AIMIM is trailing on all seats.

Nanded is the home-turf of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan who led the Congress' election campaign while Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis spearheaded the BJP's poll strategy.

The polling had recorded a turnout of 60 per cent.

Movements above 70 are interpreted as indicating overbought conditions; conversely moves underneath 30 notify oversold conditions. On a percent-of-sales basis, HMNY's free cash flow was -0.05% while INAP converted 0% of its revenues into cash flow.

As per the State Election Commission's directives, Ward No 02 of the Nanded Waghala City Municipal Corporation (NWCMC) was selected by draw for Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines. The trends however suggested that the Congress might emerge as the largest party with clear majority.

Meanwhile, the biggest loser was turning out to be the AIMIM, which had not yet managed to open its account in the 81-seat civic body.

The 81-member civic body is now controlled by the Congress.

The Nanded civic body polls is viewed as a litmus test for former chief minister and current state Congress unit president Ashok Chavan, whose father late Shankarrao Chavan, a former defence minister, had nurtured the constituency over years. The AIMIM, which contested the 2012 Nanded Maha Nagar Palika election for the first time, had won 11 seats.
