Apple Reportedly Working With LG To Release A Foldable iPhone In 2020

Understandably, Samsung is the biggest arch rival of Apple and buying OLED displays from them means dropping cash right in enemy pockets.

Samsung has been dabbling in foldable displays for years, and it'll be exciting to finally see the culmination of those experiments. A report by a Korean website pointed out that LG Display has formed a task force to create a foldable OLED screen for a foldable iPhone model that is likely to be launched in 2020.

Apple also quietly patented a foldable iPhone concept, filing on August 28, previous year - detailing a device which uses "carbon nanotubes" to allow the screen to fold while still working.

Apple is reportedly working with LG Display, a display solutions arm of LG, on a foldable iPhone. Apple is rumoured to be considering investing in this plant, but a deal hasn't been finalised.

Apple usually starts a new phone project a year before launch, sharing key features, including the panel, with suppliers.

Google Duo will soon be adding a screen sharing feature
Google is also planning to add a feature to voice calls allowing you to quickly switch over to a video call with a single tap. Primarily, Google's video calling app Duo will be the main app that will make video call to anyone with the app installed.

Piper Jaffray said the findings are a clear "positive point" for the current iPhone upgrade supercycle, which includes the iPhone 8 as well as the upcoming high-end iPhone X. The survey polled 6,100 teenagers across 44 states, with an average age of 15.9 years. "The first batch of the production will be shipped to LG Electronics and some Chinese handset makers, while the production for iPhone is expected to start from as early as 2019 when its new plant, called E6, is completed in Paju, Gyeonggi Province".

Reports from Korea say Apple and LG are unlikely to have anything ready commercially until 2020, giving Samsung the chance to build a healthy lead in the process.

Firstly, this is the first time we're hearing about Apple planning for a product a few years in advance.

That is not to say that the foldable iPhone leak might take place from LG's side; it might definitely take place but there are smaller chances of that happening.
